Ditch The Glasses and Show Off Your Eyes

Spectacles may have become a great fashion accessory, but there are still times when it can be a real pain to have to wear glasses. Sometimes, they can make you look less elegant than you would like and sometimes they can just get in the way. So what can you do about this problem? The answer is – ditch the glasses and show off your eyes.

Eye Power

But what is so great about eyes? The fact is our eyes are what we use to engage with other people and covering them up with heavily framed glasses can hamper our ability to connect. Also, if you have lovely eyes – and very many people do – glasses can take away from some of yourbeauty, which is a big negative, especially for women.

Then there are the practical reasons why glasses may not be the best choice for people who need some form of vision correction. Playing sport, for example, can be made difficult for spectacle wearers, who run the risk of the frames slipping forward on the nose or falling off altogether, not to mention the possible safety hazard they present if the sport involves any form of bodily contact.

And then there are just some situations where it is not sensible to wear glasses, such as when you are taking a shower. Of course, this will not be a major problem for those who have only minor myopia, but it may be problematic for people with very bad eyesight, who may not be able to see the edge of the bath clearly, or where their toiletries are placed.

So what are the alternatives to glasses? The most common alternative is contact lenses, but these are not for everyone and can cause problems that glasses do not. For example, if you already suffer with dry eyes, contact lenses can exacerbate the problem. Computer workers may find that contact lenses worsen computer vision syndrome, and just the act of putting lenses in and taking them out of eyes means that eye infections are much more likely.

An alternative to both glasses and contact lenses is to have laser eye surgery. This surgery treats myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism by means of a laser, and offers a more permanent solution. Recovery times are relatively short and most people who have this surgery are delighted by how clear their vision becomes, and are glad to be free of the need for corrective lenses. It is important, however, that you do your research and choose a reputable practice, such asthe one that performs laser eye surgery in Arlington, Texas, to ensure the procedure is carried out in a professional manner and is as safe as possible.

While many people feel entirely comfortable wearing glasses, it cannot be denied that they can affect the aesthetics of your face and be a nuisance, so it is worth investigating which of the other options – either lenses or surgery – would be a good way to correct your vision.
