Clever Ways To Repurpose An Old Smartphone

If you have an old smartphone, that is just gathering dust in the drawer, get it out and reuse it. There are many useful things you can do with these devices. Here are some of my favorites:

Turn it into a GPS Device

An old smartphone makes a fantastic standalone GPS unit. Just download the right apps. Doing so will allow you to turn it into a great mapping system to use in your car, on your bike or while hiking.

All you need to do is to buy a pay-as-you-go SIM with data to keep you connected while you are out.

Use it as a Media Centre

If you are lucky enough to own a phone with a large hard drive you can easily turn it into a media centre. All you need to do is to download a few apps. You can then stream movies, photos and music to your TV.

However, if you have a weak Wi-Fi connection it can be difficult to stream movies. With an old smartphone you can easily get around this problem. You can do it in two different ways.

One option is to download the movie you want onto the phone and connect it to your TV via a cable. Effectively, you are using it as almost an external hard drive. Alternatively you can play the movie on your smartphone and cast it to the screen that you want to use.

Use it as a Backup Hard Drive

Most of these devices have reasonably good hard discs. Therefore, you can easily use them to back up photos or important documents.

If your phone is not working, usually, it can be repaired. In many cases the problem is just that it needs a replacement antenna, charger, screen or battery. These days, you can easily access good quality smartphone repair in Hallandale or any other part of the US. There are plenty of firms offering this service, so the price of most repairs is surprisingly low.
